China's central bank added 5 tonnes of gold in March 2025, bringing its reserves to a record 2,292 tonnes, now 6.5% of its total assets. Goldman Sachs estimates China bought 50 tonnes in February 2025 on the London OTC market, 10 times the reported amount. This reflects a strategic move to diversify reserves amid global economic uncertainties.
