Why is it that so many people feel the need to have a hero / savior complex when it comes to “rescuing” SF?

Wouldn’t it be funny if Google Meet usage and awareness increased because of Sam Altman’s firing https://www.businessinsider.com/openai-used-google-meet-to-fire-sam-altman-2023-11

An apology from Ilya was not in my bingo cards — too little too late though? https://x.com/ilyasut/status/1726590052392956028?s=46

Hot take: Sam Altman’s firing has done more to destroy the cautionary vision espoused by OpenAI than keeping him there would have accomplished

I suspect Sam had every expectation to be reinstated. His hubris, while certainly understandable, may not have helped https://x.com/sama/status/1726345564059832609?s=46

I'm not sure I'm a huge fan of the Kara Swisher + Scott Galloway duo. He seems to be generally uninterested in her pov.

The fact that there is a Steam game celebrating my worst nightmare — getting stuck in a Tokyo subway without an easy exit — is beyond hilarious https://store.steampowered.com/app/2653790/The_Exit_8/

I feel the pandemic changed the way we think of OOO messages. I only see colleagues using OOO if they're out for a week or longer, but not for shorter periods.

Hiroo! Mostly because of proximity to work, sufficient proximity to expat community which despite some migivings is still really important to us, and because of good childcare support too.
