Feels like every week there's a new "best" LLM, usually the paid version, depending on whether you're doing research, coding, writing, etc.

But how do you actually figure out what's best for your use case at any given time?

Do you sub to everything? Use a meta-tool? Or is there a smarter way I'm missing?

my main drivers for a past few months:
Claude 3.7 - wasn't the best for my purpose anymore so dropped sub
Gemini 2.5 Pro Advanced - used free trial, was okay for needs 
Perplexity - tried for news but found that it actually sucks 
Now using ChatGPT Plus - usually o3 or o4 mini high

so only sub to one at a time
