What can Aurora do? Aurora surprises with its minimal restrictions. From Mickey Mouse to still lifes and even “bloody Trump,” it seems like almost anything goes. While nudity didn’t come up in tests, the model excels at photorealism. That said, the classic problem of AI-generated hands remains—brace yourself for missing fingers and bizarre blends.

Where did Aurora come from? Its origins are a bit foggy. On Saturday, xAI (Musk’s AI startup) announced the launch, but it’s unclear if Aurora was built entirely in-house or through collaboration. Musk insists it’s their internal system and promises quick improvements.
