Tesla’s 4680 Battery Tech Under Fire from CATL 🔋
Robin Zeng, founder of CATL, the world’s largest EV battery maker, has openly criticized Tesla’s 4680 battery cells, predicting they will fail and never succeed. During Elon Musk’s visit to China, Zeng said they discussed the topic, but Musk couldn’t convincingly justify the new technology.
Tesla champions the 4680 cells as game-changing, with over 100 million produced. However, CATL continues to prioritize lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, known for being more reliable and cost-effective, even with a shorter range.
Zeng also highlighted Musk’s optimistic predictions, particularly on self-driving, saying it’s part of his motivational strategy.
🤔 Will Tesla’s innovation win out, or does CATL have the upper hand? 0 reply
