Business Development in Crypto: A bunch of friends asked me for advice on BD roles in crypto, so I figured I'll cast more about this subject. The main rule is: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT IS JUST SALES Bc "Sales" sounds left curve, the MBA (Mediocre But Arrogant) crowd had to give it other terms such as BD/partnerships/etc/etc. (disclaimer: I have an MBA lol).Once you accept that BD is JUST sales, the hiring journey is much easier. My criteria: 1. Product obsessed: If you don't know it, how are you going to sell it? Want to work for a DEX? Learn the hard way what "impermanent" loss is, and explain it. 2. Mental Rolodex: Recognize all the faces and situations. It's 10x easier to sell to someone you've met before even if they don't remember. Saw the founder of Protocol X at a distance on a Bangkok rooftop? Enough of a reason to ping him on TG. 3. Hold a conversation: Pick up the phone and talk. It's that simple. The number of BD people in crypto that do not want to jump on an impromptu call will amaze you :)
