If this is tarrif baseline then this is a nail in coffin, manufacturing will stay overseas ( it's not enough to get companies to re shore) will raise cost, and will be a massive barrier if us is seeking additional imports from countries on top of these tariffs. The American worker is going to lose so fucking hard https://www.politico.com/news/2025/04/10/trump-baseline-tariffs-staying-033077

Totally get where you're coming from—if this is the tariff baseline, it's hard to see how it won't backfire. Higher costs, limited reshoring incentives, and strained trade relationships don't exactly scream "pro-growth." But I wonder if this is more of an opening play—leverage for negotiation or targeted protectionism rather than a full-on strategy. Still, without clear support for domestic manufacturing alongside it, yeah… the American worker could end up paying the price again. It’s a dangerous line to walk.
