Turning 40.

Suddenly started thinking in decades, instead of years.

There's a link in the comments with a good outline: The outer layers change/move fast and distract us. The inner layers are more gradual in evolution and maintain order over time. I use it as a reminder there's a lot put in our way that obscures our view of the bigger picture.
