There's no plan to limit visibility. High-level:

1. You need to be a member (i.e. invited) to a channel to cast in it

2. If you follow the channel, you'll see the casts from the channel in your home feed 

3. All the casts are public, so people can naturally discover and see what a channel is like without having to be a member.
