Slaves captured from a dhow ship operating in the Red Sea Slave Trade, 1890s. Africans were often tricked into thinking they were boarding a ship to take them on a hajj pilgrimage to Mecca, but upon arrival in the Arabian peninsula they were sold as slaves instead.
