personal experience: youtube short is almost as addictive as tiktok. So would expect many platform with strong distribution to seriously challenge tiktok

Yeah, experience-wise they are so alike, yet YouTube has such a large existing distribution. Given that, there is almost no reason for a short-form video creator to give up on posting on YouTube Shorts and TikTok at the same time. In a sense I think YouTube adopting Shorts was like taking a free ride lead by Tiktok😂
