Bitcoin processed its billionth transaction 15 years after its launch But Bitcoin is not the first blockchain to cross the 1 billion transaction threshold. Ethereum reached this milestone in early February 2021, roughly five and a half years after the main network launched in July 2015, according to Blockchair.
