For many people, a tattoo is a way to show their uniqueness, a feature. 

A person wants to make himself known, to be noticed, wants to stand out from the crowd. 

This indicates the fear of losing oneself as an original personality, the fear of losing one's individuality, the fear of being "like everyone else"
