and i just spent this weekend going through Vitalik's five-part ethereum roadmap- there is a lot of exciting stuff ahead.
here is everything i learned, explained in simple, short and easy english:

-speeding up transaction times to 4 seconds
part-2- the surge:
-scaling to 100,000+ transactions per second

this is total a 6 part roadmap, but vitalik ser has published 5 parts till now

part 1- the merge:
-making proof of stake better after running for two years
-cutting block finality time from 15 minutes to 12 seconds
-opening staking to more people by reducing the 32 eth minimum
-protecting the network from large attacks and censorship
-keeping block makers safe through secret selection
