China is exposing luxury brands like Dior, Gucci, and Chanel — Showing those $5000 bags are made in China and then shipped to Europe for the tags and sold to you with a huge markup. Things are shifting - do you feel it?

Not really, it depends what is done… Chinese factories can make faster production with greater quality than before, so if u need huge production and quality, it will happen in china, made in china doesn’t mean it’s poor quality… what Vuitton is doing is worst imo, selling plastic to price of leather But if there is no special savoir faire that requires it to be made in france why doing so ? The shift was before with mass production strategy, so this brands as any company need to decrease cost of production and maintain high margins if they want to survive… Hermès does it quite good It is also a matter of customer knowing what they buy, and who actually buys a luxury brand only for quality? Most clients of those brands are buying a status…

I think it’s good for the transparency in production chain of goods. I do think it’ll have a weird effect on sales going forward.
