As a hobby, I'm writing a fictional story about starting a network state to help make the process more vivid in the imagination and inspire more action! I'll try to get around to making it a frame in the near future. Things are busy busy busy! ---------------- Mistakes and arbitrary decisions from his employer, his bank, and his country have thrown Richard Cabeza's life thrown into a tailspin. Feeling completely shafted by the existing establishments, he starts learning about blockchain in order to take private decentralized custody of his assets. While studying and investing, he stumbles upon a groundbreaking paradigm for using modern technology to build new kinds of communities, cultures, and countries. Just wondering.. What do you think about the current reality that network state projects exploit local communities, displace people from their homes and destroy sensitive ecosystems?

I appreciate this perspective. I have heard some of these accusations on some of the more well-known projects. I haven’t bothered reading deeply into them since I’m personally most interested in network culture. However, I certainly don’t condone such actions, nor do I believe they are necessary to establish network states.

🤝 Appreciate that there are folks like you in the space. The "network everything" movement has so much more inspiration to offer than replicating old ills.

Thanks for the kind words! I believe there will be a period in the maturation process of network states (or whatever may succeed them) where wealth is even more concentrated because the technology leverage is most accessible to those who are already rich. But if we can rapidly democratize access to cutting-edge technology and implement global standards using tools that foster humanity’s highest values (e.g. blockchain can be used to foster truth and freedom), power might shift not only to those who are most economically effective, but to economically effective people who are also very honest, accepting, and efficient.
