Just finished watching House of the Dragon! One thing that struck me was the symbolism of masks throughout the series.
As I finished watching House of the Dragon, I couldn't help but notice the recurring motif of masks. From the ornate masks worn at courtly gatherings to the emotional masks characters wear to conceal their true intentions, masks play a significant role in the series.
Rhaenyra's mask of determination hides her vulnerability, while Alicent's mask of piety conceals her ambition. Even Daemon's roguish charm can be seen as a mask, hiding his deep sense of loyalty and honor.
The use of masks serves as a reminder that in the world of Westeros, nothing is as it seems. Characters constantly navigate the complexities of court politics, where hiding one's true face is a matter of survival
The masks in House of the Dragon serve as a powerful metaphor, reminding us that even in our own lives, we often wear masks to hide our true emotions, intentions, and desires.
