If you can explain to me why a game needs to be on a blockchain I will play it.

I think web3 fits well into the MMO model that has player-to-player marketplaces. Players selling items/weapons/gear etc Making a MMO onchain would bring player-to-player trading to a whole new level. Specifically, there are interesting models that could be implemented like a blacksmith earning 5% of gold earned from kills using their weapons. Or if your guild was a DAO that enabled you as a group earn money for services and then those paid services would be seamlessly paid out to players. Essentially the web2 creator economy on top of web3 foundation - which makes the creator economy 10x easier. So the innovation is the ease in which players and creators can transfer value onchain. Less middlemen = more direct value. Imagine a world where Blizzard automatically paid out creators, modders, streamers based on the value they brought to the overall ecosystem. The world would be more vibrant with events, mods, and features. Things that already happen, but mostly for free or little money in web2. Thoughts?

You make some amazing points. But my line of thought is, that this is regular MMO "infused" with web3 elements. This is a perfect example of NFTs coming into play, and not have it be a jpeg of a rock on an L2. Personally, I see no need for a similar product to be "web3" or be "onchain" just for the hell of it. That's why I said I see no need for the entire game to be on the blockchain.

Ah you mean like fully onchain? Tbh I'm still figuring that part out, but there's some core parts like you said make a ton of sense - NFT collectables are the easiest to envision
