True that but I don’t expect all of it to be bots. Esp when Telegram requires a unique phone number per account.

Even assuming a 50% bot ratio, the top app would have 20mn DAU which is still crazy.

Phone number is vastly better for Sybil-resistance than nothing.
Even state-funded actors have cell phone bot farms numbering in the 100Ks. I highly doubt it going to the millions.
