Respiratory Issues: Chronic conditions like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), chronic bronchitis, and emphysema. Increased risk of lung infections and pneumonia. Reduced lung function and difficulty breathing. 2. Cardiovascular Problems: Heart disease and heart attacks. Increased risk of stroke. Damage to blood vessels, leading to high blood pressure and atherosclerosis (narrowing of the arteries). Peripheral artery disease (PAD). 3. Cancer Risk: Smoking is a leading cause of lung cancer. Increases the risk of cancers in other areas like the mouth, throat, bladder, pancreas, and kidneys. 4. Weakened Immune System: Increased susceptibility to infections and illnesses due to a weakened immune response. Reduced ability to recover from illnesses or surgeries.
