Had an uncle tell me to my face last week that the fires in Hawaii were caused by direct energy weaponry by some adversary of the US. 

What?

I was like “oh. You mean when the power lines sparked next to trees that shouldn’t have been that close to them?”

Instantly replied: “that’s what the media told you to believe” as unironically as you can possibly imagine.
