coingecko Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) has been permanently banned from managing the cryptocurrency exchange. Originally expected to last three years, the suspension is now confirmed to be for life, preventing CZ from returning to a leadership role at Binance.
The ban follows legal action by U.S. authorities citing violations related to offering unregistered securities, market manipulation, and weak anti-money laundering protocols. As part of a deal with the Department of Justice, Zhao stepped down as CEO in November, and the company now faces increased regulatory oversight.
Despite his departure, CZ remains the largest shareholder at Binance and maintains significant influence. Following his exit from the crypto giant, he plans to focus on investments in blockchain, Al, and biotechnology. 0 reply
