The value of a gift is not in the gift itself, but rather everything that leads up to it: thought, arrangment, and delivery This multi-step process requires attention and determination to make it happen Thus, the Giver shows the Recipient a reflection of the value that they see in them

I stopped making presents for Christmas or birthdays. Too much pressure and expectation. Instead, I do random gifts targeting current needs of the other person. Seems like everyone involved is much happier this way :)

Present time prevents that joy. Now you just find a gift from the internet and you send it to the beloved ones. The older times where better you had to move yourself for find the perfect gift

I found this book on the topic to be rather impactful. Changed the way I think about gifts, giving & reciprocity Here’s a review of Lewis Hyde’s The Gift written by Margaret Atwood https://www.theparisreview.org/blog/2019/09/16/the-gift-of-lewis-hydes-the-gift/
