I want to overcome it so badly. After this long its like the pieces of a, really shitty, puzzle are coming together and this is the centrepiece. Moments from past & present that stem from it. I want to get past them, let them go, but how.

Are you doing any kind of therapy? Maybe it can somehow help you handle this. It's not your fault, by any means, so don't internalize it.
