Is it illegal to give away money to followers?

What if I said I would give 1 ETH to a randomly chosen follower this Friday? 

Screw it, let's do it. I'm gonna give someone 1 ETH on Friday.

that’s easy, i’d use it to fund my trading career or rather restart my trading career because over the past 2 months i’ve taken the biggest losses in my career totaling a lovely $11k+, but not also that i’d also promise that if something good comes out of it and i’m able to get back on my feet within a month (trading wise) i’d do so this exact same thing and pass it on to a random follower or a follower who i believe needs it the most.
