Months ago I asked a founder who joined @alliancedao why he picked us over the accelerator/fellowship/EIR of a big name VC. Among other things he said “if you don’t get follow-on from the VC it’s a big red flag”. Indeed, the accelerator arm of a VC is just their marketing top of funnel, not the product itself.

A year ago or so YC killed their later-stage non-accelerator fund. I don’t have any insider knowledge, but I wouldn’t be surprised this was part of their calculus.
