The Brusio Spiral Bridge, built in 1908 near Brusio, Switzerland, was an engineering solution to allow trains to climb steep slopes in limited space without the need for tunnels – something that would have taken away from the stunning views of the Bernina Line. The unique spiral design also seems to add a bit of fun and surprise to the journey.
