My first cast in /swords has to be about the sword Gandalf wields called “Glamdring” Glamdring was originally forged for Turgon, the King of Gondolin, during the First Age. The sword's name is Elvish for "Foe-hammer", from the words "glam" meaning "foe" and "dring" meaning "hammer". In The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Thorin finds Glamdring in a troll cave and gives it to Gandalf. Gandalf uses Glamdring in many battles, including the Battle of the Chamber of Mazarbul, the standoff with the Balrog, and the Battle of the Black Gate. Gandalf keeps Glamdring by his side for many years, and it's the only weapon known to be in his possession during the fight with the Balrog. Glamdring's pure metal allows it to pierce the Balrog's skin and serve as a fall into the depths beneath the ruined city.
