@quenarnd I'm a 28-year-old man. Married with a son. Great job, my own apartment. But that's not what I wanted. At university I dated a girl, I wanted to quit, go to the army, then travel and enjoy life. In the end, while I was in the army, I found out that she was pregnant, but had an abortion for health reasons. As friends said, very hard to get over it plus emotions from our separation. I came back from the army, felt sorry for her and we got back together. Eventually got married and had a child together. I can see that my wife is happy, but I'm not. I didn't want all this! I wanted a different life, but I can't tell her that. To her we are doing just fine.... #life #history #interesting

The wife was too sneaky. She kept saying she was going to a friend's house for a sleepover. They were good friends, there were never any questions. Only as it turned out, she went on days when her friend was on duty. My wife cheated on me with her friend's husband. I never thought it would affect me. And here it turned out ... I want to give in the face of this man and I realize that he has nothing to do with it. I mean, a woman wouldn't want to-- You know what I mean. #life #history #interesting

Day four: Master and Commander One of the all time heavyweight champions of historical fiction. Bill Bryson calls it his favorite escapist reading. Keith Richards shouts it out at the end of his book Life. There are a bunch of red flags on this book for me: - this book is the first in a series of 20 - it’s a historical seafaring adventure - it was written in the 60s but uses period language - it’s laden with esoteric jargon Given the red flags, I expected a cheap swashbuckling novel hiding its poor writing behind unfamiliar language. But the exact opposite is the case. The whole series is outstanding. The prose is excellent, once you get your head into it. The character development is first rate and continues throughout the series. The stories are subtle and nuanced in a way you’d never expect from historical military fiction. O’Brian is the John Williams of his niche. You’d never mention them in the same breath as confirmed masters like Beethoven or Jane Austen, but we should. Five stars easy

I have an ex-career man. He's also a cheapskate, thinks you can't spend money on crap, only on the right things. He doesn't really need vacation time. It's the first time I've worked in a good job, with a good office and team. I promised myself that with the money I had saved, I'd go on vacation in a year. During this year I also started dating my husband, I told him about vacation, but he waved me off and smirked. In the end, when I saved money, I offered him to go, and he did not believe me at first that I have money, and then began to reproach me in infantilism. Said that it would be better if I took some courses or invested money somewhere. Vacations are a waste of money. #life #history #interesting
