this spring's second foraging walk was another success, cant wait to clean, prepare, and eat everything here (in one way or another) 🥰

No I live in zone 4/5 and we had a wild winter so they arnt even really at peak harvest yet, I know of about three good patches that’ll be enough for maybe 6-8 meal worth for the whole family if they’re harvested sustainably

oh im really curious! ive never foraged or eaten them (besides in stardew valley haha) but I think some grow in place relatively close! maybe I should read up and try it! i just had to google and compare, zone 4/5 is pretty harsh! apparently Im in Zone 8b or oceanic climate (Köppen climate classification Cfb) defined by the protected valley and almost year round warm temperatures are usually determined by Atlantic air masses in the winter and increased influence from the western Mediterranean in summer. I didn't even know I was so lucky with my city when it comes to foraging! Learned something new again

Zone 7/8 is ideal growing zone IMO very nice zone. I’m guessing if you have fiddleheads near you they’re past prime harvest window. They have a very narrow harvest window due to wanted to pick them after them break soil but before they fully unfurl. They’re delicious though and well worth it.

Sounds good 😌 happy to help identify. If you do see some aim to only harvest ~2/3 of the stalks so that the cluster lives through the season.
