"suggested followers" ruin all new social networks by creating an inequitable/lopsided socio-economy that stagnates the culture around the early nerds / founders' friends

alternatives i can imagine are not great

1) global competition at content level a la early tik tok
2) degraded initial experience that asks user to do more work in bringing their own network over
3) degraded initial experience that has the user do more exploration via niches/interests
4) sincere attempt to highlight users that are lower follower but some algoirthmic assesment of quality/category of content/etc

i think i'm sort of more reflecting on how often in the early days the suggested users are static and just a bunch of founders' network/friends

basically need something that allows for meaningful forks/splinters/subgraphs to grow as opposed to everything falling into the single initial hierarchy
