Although this post is clearly a joke. Child labour in coffee is a huge problem. Many workers on farms are immigrants and end up in debt spirals where they are essentially trapped working on the farm. As coffee growers generally get paid by the amount of weight they bring in mothers will bring their children to work. This stretches even into the speciality coffee industry. This is why we visit the farm each year to see for ourselves the conditions the pickers and workers live and operate in. Even on sites we have visited the difference in living conditions can be huge. Even though a product is listed as fairtrade rules are clearly broken. As a consumer and roaster it is hard, but this issue will be solved by purchasing ethical and traceable coffee. Ethical doesn’t need to be more expensive. darkshadow https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQEvny1ON7VmeGLNvps0P04EhQuK-9v5lJQ1Q&s
