PPI manufacturing inflation in July dropped to 2.2%, lower than forecast at 2.3%. Core PPI inflation dropped to 2.4%, lower than forecast at 2.7%. A decrease in manufacturing inflation will often have the impact of a subsequent decrease in CPI and PCE consumer inflation, opening a wider door for the FED to start lowering interest rates from September.
