sometimes i want tech professional. sometimes i don't. if i do, i can go on farcaster. if i don't, i can go on twitter or bluesky (or someplace else). so really not a question of preferences, which are inherently unstable over time.

indeed -- fractional identities determined by the various positions we inhabit within the symbolic network, insofar as the identity refers to a particular relationship to speech rather than some sort of existential quality (e.g. a dad "is" a dad all the time, but he is so symbolically when talking to his children)
