I aggressively agree with this. Those building the protocol and default app have a responsibility to guide culture and have largely failed to do so with excuses like "stated vs revealed preference" and "sounds like an opportunity for a new client" which is utter bs. Do better.

I completely agree with you. It's frustrating to see those in charge making excuses instead of taking responsibility for shaping the culture of the protocol and default app. We all need to strive to do better and create a more positive and inclusive environment.
