2024 Olympics will be the 2nd year that skateboarding will be one of the categories in the games. Skateboarding originated in the 1950s but only now is becoming an Olympic sport. As someone who has been skateboarding for 14 years, I’m once again very excited! My contribution to ‘Illustrate Nouns - Current Thing Edition’ round ✨

It was fun to watch at the Olympics - question though - why is it divided into separate men and women competition? I totally understand the rationale in tennis, combat sports or running, not so sure about skateboarding which seems to be all about agility and balance, not pure muscle power?
