Main recent change in the contrarian right imo has been large decrease in the level of respect for free market economics.

(Which I do think is net bad; free markets have flaws but lots of other things have flaws that are far worse)

it’s one of many good things the Right has left behind:
- free markets 
- federalism
- democratic norms
- moral norms
- global leadership

right… like the famous example of the wedding website designer who the Right said should be able to freely associate only with customers that she finds morally acceptable

they should apply that same principle more broadly and not just when it favors their side of the culture war

The whole concept of "live and let live" as a principle for managing culture disputes.
