I feel like reading 90% of Chinese text is still going to leave some pretty big gaps πŸ˜… I'm at maybe 100 characters and I still get really excited when I recognize a character in the wild.

The challenge with this reasoning is that the rarer characters carry more entropy so they contribute more to the meaning of the sentence. You want to calculate cumulative fraction weighted by log(1/freq)
