1. What is Base ? 

Base is a Layer 2 scaling solution on Ethereum, launched by Coinbase in August 2023. Built on Optimism’s OP Stack, it uses Optimistic Rollups to process transactions off-chain, slashing fees and boosting speed while leveraging Ethereum’s security

2. Base’s mission? 🎯 

Democratize blockchain access. Coinbase aims to onboard 1B users to Web3, and Base is key. 

With fees often < 1 cent (vs. $1+ on Ethereum L1), it’s a game-changer. Current stats: ~$12B TVL, 11M+ monthly active users, and 8.8M tx/day, outpacing many L2s 👀

4. Ecosystem strengths 🌍 

Base integrates with Coinbase’s 110M+ user base, offering seamless fiat-to-crypto onramps. It’s EVM-compatible, so devs can port dApps easily, think Uniswap, Aave, or Friend. tech. 

Interoperability shines with 49+ chains via Chainlink CCIP and Axelar

5. Adoption is wild

Base deployed 11.4M smart contracts in a single week (March 2025), a record. It captures ~80% of L2 fee market share, driven by DeFi and social apps. 📈 

Top protocols like Aerodrome Finance ($1B+ TVL) thrive here. But growth isn’t without challenges

6. Centralization concerns

 Base is still a work in progress. Coinbase operates the sole sequencer, controlling tx ordering (MEV risks). No native token exists revenue goes to Coinbase, not a DAO. 

Plans for decentralization are in motion, but it’s not fully trustless yet.

7. Why Base matters ? 

It’s a scalable, user-friendly L2 bridging Ethereum’s security with mass adoption potential.

3. How does it work?

Base batches transactions off-chain via Optimistic Rollups, assuming they’re valid (hence "optimistic"). It submits compressed data to Ethereum L1 for final settlement. Fraud proofs ensure integrity, with a 7-day challenge period. Throughput? ~67% of all L2s (actually 30 Mgas/s)
