Short right wing populism I am not ready to call long on the left populist response though Biggest danger for a triumphant right is that the rightās political elites coasts under the veneer of their āpopulistā mandate, and actually implement their agenda. The GOP veers sharply from their (newish) voters: not rly very populist, but clearly see a unique opportunity to cut long-hated programs they typically canāt touch because they are soā¦popular, esp. among their base. All these programs are vital to the survival of whatever remains of the working and middle class in America. The political impact of culling stuff like Medicare, meals on wheels, medicaid, social security would be significant. Pair that with the general weariness the culture seems to express about the culture wars. I meanā¦ Dasha is 40+, and can the manhattan institute get anyone else to care about critical race theory who doesnāt already? Of course Iām wary that dems seize the moment, but the current meta feels cashed

Dems will definitely not do left-wing populism, but def dont short left populism because the dems are to stupid to realize the opportunity. Trump won with the fact being out there that at least a part of the people in his circle(project 2025, for example) explicity were like yea we want to kill entitlements. If anything Trumps win shows that someone with a real labor background who speaks to the the working class could win on a left populist platform( even though the historical association with that is negative in America)
