So apparently the new vocabulary alpha is that these days "games" just means "gambling", and so if you want to talk about actually interesting games you say "e-sports"

most interesting games are not e-sports though. my mind is conflicted about this.

v subjective: games where you don't have to do the same thing over and over again trying to be 0.01% better each time. some people love that and that's why this industry is so big, but i wonder if they would enjoy it as much without the PvP element, without the twitch streamers marketing these games 24/7?

the other category of stuff for me is like minecraft where the game becomes a canvas for creativity, modding

interesting. i think less about the being .01% better each time and more that the human element of playing against others makes the experience uniquely frustrating/fun. with many other games (which are fun) i end up feeling like a rat in a maze over time.
