upside: speed, stability, VLANs

What gear did you buy? I’ve been using the ASUS Mesh for 2 years, and have been having a number of issues over the last 6 months, and thinking about switching.

Also want to increase my speeds and Wi-Fi range.

network going down randomly requiring a full reboot, DNS bottlenecking, lots of homekit disconnects + timeouts, overall bad ux of their software.

What ASUS issues you encountering? I just got a full ASUS mesh setup recently and liking it so far

that’s a solid setup. you can run a unifi controller in docker now but i’d rather have dedicated hardware for it cause my unraid server gets hammered sometimes and would probably throttle the network with it

I was too cheap to get a Dream Machine SE so I repurposed an old (2017) PC to run Proxmox. It hosts vms for pfsense (router), a nas, and soon many more things.

Having a virtual router has been okay so far; way better than relying on google home pucks!

Yup. Especially in dense polluted environments, Ubiquity outperforms. Switched a couple of years ago. Money well spent.

Switched to UniFi years ago and never looked back. Worth it.
