i was considering payload before eventually decided on strapi a year ago. if i had to make the decision today, it'd probably be payload. don't get me wrong tho, strapi is well supported with constant updates but it was behind on typescript support and many hacks needed to get things to work.

for simple things like blog/article type of data structure it works great out of the box. for us we needed hierarchy to our data model and that's difficult to achieve out of the box - we did it tho with additional customization on the CMS UI
