This is a tough one. I don't mind free with ads as long as the ads don't get in the way. I'm also happy to pay a one time fee of a subscription depending on the value prop.

would you like the option to switch models? Try it with adds, move to a subscription if you really like it, then buy the one time to lock it in?

Yeah I think that's a good option. Some services like Spotify offer huge benefits for subscription, not just ad free. Plus I think there are some benefits to game the add watching in some way, rewards for watching ads, though I think it needs to be thought through really well.
