my parents don't really buy much of anything at all and I've been trying to get them to mentally accept that they don't need to be *as* concerned about finances anymore. the only thing that has worked so far: took my dad shopping, he saw a flat water bottle that fits into your back pocket. he loved it, guy is constantly going for lindy walks with a water bottle. He asked how much it was, and I said dude who cares lets get it. now every day almost he hits me up to talk about how cool his water bottle is. its the small wins

this is a beautiful story. my parents gave me and my sibling everything we needed, they sacrificed a lot to send us to good schools now they are older and we are both in good places in our careers and we can support them in a way that is new - and not fully internalized yet. feels really good, man
