It’s funny that the moment we all suddenly got really clear eyed about how capital & power wields trad media, most non boomers dropped Fox and MSNBC en masse… andddd we all shifted straight to algo-feeds and “content creators.”
the legacy media issues are real, but new media is just as bad
We are not closer to the truth reading our substacks, we just each have our optimized feeds. Everyone has their influencers, their “current thing”. Platforms surface or repress according to their interests. Reporters and influencers fight for attention, streamers scrapping it out in an ever escalating war for reactions
Our perception is “alternative media,” but it’s just a new, enormous industry. Highly centralized, too. It feels different though, and we enjoy imaging ourselves as rational. The independent thinkers, blissfully unaware 13 replies
