When I speak to people from Crypto Twitter (mostly artists), they say one of the main reasons they don't want to come here is that they think it's all about tip-farming. It feels degen-coded.

The reality is CT has a lot more engagement farmers.

The reason of this perception is the endless "reply-tipping" everywhere. I think tips are great but they're cumbersome in the current UI.

I understand, I'm not a fan of analytics frames in the feed but as horsefacts points out, people love them 

tips are pretty low impact for me today - mostly I receive them from @microsub once per day, or its a large tip from an individual for a specific moment

It's really just the perception. people want to receive the tips but don't want them in their timeline / notifications as much and don't want them to affect the algo (tip replies are liked less).

So if the tips somehow moved outside the reply functionality, perception would change.
