I reject that by nature a team or builder with a live coin is "chasing short term hype in the market" oftentimes this is a line that gets thrown around pretty carelessly, lumping bootstrapped but serious builders in with memecoin scammers or grifters ironically, the same people who say this often talk about "real world usecases," while being dismissive about builders who are actively engaging with the primary DAU in crypto today, people who actively trade ultimately, teams should eventually be comfortable with coins, or should be explicit about what their business model is. no one talks about uniswap as though the protocol isn't serious, or the team hasn't shipped meaningful tech, even though almost every single memecoin is downstream of what erc20 + Uniswap v1 proliferated

I think unfortunately this reductivist view emerged out of two things: – Bad actors and scams left a bad taste in early mainstream adopters – Signal was validated when DAI, Gemini, Genesis, FTX imploded People play lotto with the intention of a quick dopamine hit. However, @accountless.eth schooled me on GTM stuff behind the scenes for successful token launches… Hint: it's not just the memes

I ultimately do a lot of clanker eco marketing would be easy to dismiss a lot of it as bullposting coins (bad) if a lot of these coins weren't connected to bootstrapped devs, building on FC & building real products with actual users (good)

I’m gonna call a spade a spade and say you guys buy tokens and then you tweet about them. Once you’ve tweeted about them though you’ve already spiked them by 10 to 15%. As such new users go there when they see your tweet and buy they’re buying at the inflated price that you usually draw down on. “you” i say in general

meh prove some bad action onchain or I'll call a spade a spade and say this is noise unrelated to anything we're talking about here

think people buying tokens and tweeting about them is actually exactly what we want, our model is explicitly about getting attention for creators, and having them monetize in line with speculative markets probably the worst cases of extractive low signal activity we've seen have been two things: - a few high social capital farcaster users repeatedly deploying coins to farm volume, doing so without much intention to build them long term - one bad case of impersonation coin getting significant volume - people trying to social engineer their way into a "proxy tweet" and then selling into that if they succeed (can think of at least 2 cases where I probably jumped the gun here - should have dug into deployer more)

You could tweet first and then buy instead of the other way around

Memecoins are frequently like Isotopes, they have a short half life... Thought this paragraph was interesting thinking about the evergreen value and staying power of Spinach: https://warpcast.com/mleejr/0x61a6d969
