beautiful thread here on @downshift.eth's experience joining and getting hooked on @farcaster through @degentokenbase and the unique distribution mechanic at the project's core: tipping Directionally, I agree. Tipping is a novel form of distribution that I hope @jacek sticks with. I do think that over time, the project has to develop. My instincts are that Degen playing a big role as a top of funnel project attracting users to Farcaster, getting them onboarded and retained for the early weeks is actually super valuable to the network as a whole. but I also empathize for where Jacek is, looking at data on farming, tipping, and knowing well how brutal the attention economy is around tokens. We might ask: how does the network help make Degen Tipping a more sustainable economic engine for our growth? How do those who tip drive value into the project, and enable the developers to sustainably build great user experiences for new entrants? OFC this gets into more complex questions about roadmap. 1/2

I won't get into those, and this is more general - not directed at @downshift.eth who with /microsub has done this more than 99.99% of the network. I just think at some point, expecting small teams to deliver continual, massive value to a broad swath of people is unrealistic. it can happen, but not without the network effects that will enable that team to scale their project. Farcaster as a whole has to decide if Degen is valuable to us, we have to decide if we want to buy the token, accumulate positions, acquire tipping rights if we do, we can influence the direction of the project, and Degen might ask: how can it become a more durable, universally accepted tipping token for our social graph? one answer might be a form of governance (as much as I hate to say it) anyway, much respect to both jacek and downshift for sharing their genuine opinions here
