insane that the peach exists, that I live in the era of 'the peach', and that I am afforded the great luxury of eating them (practically) whenever I want

I wrote an article for the high school newspaper about how, originally, peaches were actually covered with thick dark ropey hair, not fuzz. And Ben Franklin bred that characteristic out of them. I hope some people still believe that.
